MAC Education Committee

The Education Committee seeks to provide professional development and continuing education opportunities for members through workshops, special focus sessions, and other activities, usually in conjunction with MAC meetings. The committee typically presents one of the MAC Archival Fundamentals workshops and one or more advanced workshops at each MAC meeting. A committee member serves as liaison to each meeting's Program Committee and is responsible for developing ideas and recruiting instructors for the advanced workshops. The committee consists of a chair appointed by the MAC president and five members. Members are appointed to a three-year term with an option for a second term.

MACinars

MACinars is a series of virtual offerings that acts as a third stream of continuing education opportunities for MAC members designed to supplement regular sessions and workshops offered at the Annual Meeting and Fall Symposium. In a time when conference travel has become more difficult for many in the profession, these virtual educational sessions will help ensure that MAC members get the most value out of their membership.

Under the guidance of the MAC Education Committee, the MACinars program aims to offer approximately 8 virtual continuing education opportunities per year. These offerings include 3-4 targeted networking events, 3-4 Annual Meeting session encore presentations, and 1-2 educational workshops. These are delivered monthly, skipping July and December as well as the months of the Annual Meeting and the Fall Symposium.

Members will be alerted to these opportunities via the MAC members email listserv and social media.  Members will be asked to register for the free events and will be sent reminders to ensure attendance. For more information or questions, please contact 2025-26 MACinars coordinator Scott Brouwer – [email protected]
